10 Year Anniversary!

We opened our office in 2010, on November 1st.

Matt and Rob moved to town with the goal of planting our roots, starting our families, and building our business in a tight-knit community. This area is ideal because we have the mountains to the West, downtown Frederick’s shops and restaurants, and D.C. and Baltimore just an hour or so away. Hiking, lots of breweries, Civil War history all around us, and much more.

First thing we did when we got to town was rent a storage unit. That’s where we would put our office furniture and supplies until we found an office space. We bought office chairs on Craigslist, and we cleaned and painted and reupholstered them. Rob bought a chiropractic table from his former boss. We pooled our money and bought a flexion-distraction table. We made trips to IKEA for furniture. We started working as fill-in chiropractors for other chiropractic offices in the state. We did this all while also holding down jobs at Macy’s at the FSK Mall. Our wives worked throughout this time, too, all while also being either pregnant (Rachel) or having a 1 year-old (Nicole). Talk about a family effort!

The chairs turned out pretty good, with help from Matt’s mom!

We found our office in late Summer. We now had to renovate it and get it ready to be a chiropractic office. Our budget was about $10,000. Time to roll up our sleeves!

Rob’s son, Logan, kept an eye on things.

We found clearance flooring at Lowe’s. We bought leather for the chairs from who-knows-where. We tore up old carpet. We painted walls.

We had Matt’s mom visit from North Carolina, along with his brother. It was a lot of work but also a lot of fun.

And now here we are, 10 years later. We love our community. Our older sons are heading to Middle School. Our daughters are in Elementary School. Matt has a 3rd child, too! We’ve got more pets than ever before.

Clean and comfortable.

Our office is now humming along smoothly. We have a super staff of two very talented women, Kathy and Shenen. We’ve got a schedule that is usually full of wonderful people that we count as more than just patients – they are our friends.

You can find our office at the end of the rainbow. Or at 1780 North Market Street.

If you’ve never been to a chiropractor, give us a try! Become part of the Park Bench family. We hope to see you some time soon.

How’s Your Right Shoulder Feeling?

As this pandemic GRINDS ON there are a lot of Walkersville residents who are working from home. Some of us have great ergonomic home office setups, and some of us are at the kitchen table. No matter your situation you are probably spending more time than ever at your computer or laptop.

You might not be a hair-free beige person, but do you have that painful red zone?

Time spent gripping that mouse and staring at that screen take their toll on the human body. Despite all the advances in technology we have enjoyed over the past few decades we are all still locked to our computers for 8 or more hours every day, and there’s no real way to use a computer without hurting your body. It’s just not possible. Sitting at a computer just isn’t comfortable for any extended length of time.

One of the worst consequences of this computer posture is a burning ache inside the right shoulder blade, along the inside border of your scapula. Trust me, if you are feeling this kind of pain you are not alone. We are all feeling it. Unfortunately, if untreated this can advance into very intense neck pain, headaches, or numbness and pain traveling down the arm into the hand.

At Park Bench Chiropractic we can’t do a darn thing about COVID, but we can help make that shoulder pain go away. We’ve been seeing a lot of that nasty right shoulder tension these past few months and we’ve been having a lot of success in helping our patients relieve that pain. We focus on hands-on and direct treatment of the problem, and we use multiple techniques to get the problem solved for you. We will spend real time addressing it, showing you home exercises, and following up with a realistic treatment plan.

Give us a call and come on in and get started.

Back Pain and Neck Pain Treatment

Our office is located right next to Dublin Roasters Coffee shop, which is at the northern-most part of North Market Street. Our address is 1780 North Market Street, Frederick, MD 21793. If you’re not familiar with the area, it is between the Banner School and Triangle Motors.

Technically, we are in Frederick. But many of our clients live and work in Walkersville, and the exit to get off 15N even says “Walkersville”, and Dr. Rob lives in Walkersville, and his kids go to Walkersville schools…so we are going to make sure to show some love to Walkersville on our website.

If you’ve never been to a chiropractor before, and you are experiencing neck pain or back pain or even headaches, then you should consider chiropractic care. By gently adjusting the joints of the spine we can alleviate pressure and tension and reduce muscle pain, joint pain, and nerve pain. Poorly aligned spinal joints, from bad posture or old injuries, causes the body to work inefficiently and even normal activities can be painful. Computer posture, staring at your phone, weekend warrior activities, stress, and sports injuries can all accumulate and cause your otherwise healthy body to start feeling old and creaky. Sure, you can pop Alleves into your mouth on a daily basis and muddle your way through each day. A better choice, though, is to correct the issue at the root cause and strengthen your body and your spine with chiropractic.

Come and visit our office. We offer friendly service and competent chiropractic care. We’ve been serving Walkersville and Frederick since we opened in 2010. We have 1,000’s of patients who have trusted their chiropractic care with us. We practice a style of chiropractic focused on meeting the needs of the individual. We don’t over-bill or over-schedule. Basically, we’re just some laid-back, friendly guys who enjoy what we do, and we try our hardest to serve our community with respect and skill.
